Convert PNG to JPG for a smaller file
PNG can be too heavy for photo-like images. JPG can make a much smaller file, but it does not support transparency.
Best for photo-like PNGs
If the PNG is a photograph or a large realistic image, JPG usually cuts the file size more effectively than PNG compression.
Transparency becomes solid
JPG is opaque. Transparent pixels need a background colour, so check the output if the source is a logo, sticker or cut-out.
Compare against WebP
For websites, WebP may be a better delivery format than JPG. Try both if the final target supports WebP.
