Compress images for website speed
Large images are one of the easiest ways to slow down a page. Most wins come from resizing first, then choosing a sensible delivery format.
Match the display size
If a card only shows an image at 600 pixels wide, uploading a 3000 pixel image wastes bandwidth. Resize close to the real display size first.
Use WebP for modern pages
WebP is usually a strong format for live website images because it keeps good quality at a smaller file size than many JPG or PNG exports.
Do a visual check
Compression settings are not magic numbers. Check faces, small text and sharp edges before replacing an original image on a live site.
